SHAMEER'S HEAVENLY HOME FOUNDATION
Assisting those experiencing financial hardship due to the unprepared death of a minor child in the
DFW Metroplex
OUR STORY
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
The idea of this foundation came from my own personal experience of losing my granddaughter, Shameer. No one prepares for the birth of a child or even considers the death of a child. Shame’er died just at the age of two months old. It was so unexpected and my family and I had not prepared financially. Trying to cope with the grief and dealing with the stress of making funeral arrangements was so taxing on me and my family. Honestly, it was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. After all, during her short life, she had filled my home with love and hope for her future. Only for me to eventually feel sad and empty after her death.
Through much prayer, I believe God put it upon my heart to create a foundation that would not only honor Shameer's life, but would help others who are going through the same situation. I was fortunate, at the time, to have Shameer's papa, my sisters, and my brother who gave me moral support and assistance financially. They gave me their strength when I felt broken. Later, I came to the realization that so many families may not have that type of support.
The organization’s goal is to help others who are going through what I went through; assist with the financial responsibilities of funeral costs; and, help relieve some of the burden for someone while already dealing with so much loss. This has become my purpose.
